Doctor Who Treated Rescued Hostages: All Suffered Prolonged Physical and Psychological Abuse: Professor Itai Pessach of Sheba Medical Center, who is treating the four Israeli hostages rescued on Saturday, says that “they have all suffered physical and psychological abuse for a prolonged period,” adding that “they are all undernourished, even though it is not visible.” He stated that returned hostages undergo a psychological and psychiatric evaluation and are assigned a psychosocial team that is with them from the moment they return. According to Pessach, there is a difference in the condition of the hostages who were held in tunnels and those who were held in apartments, but all of them suffered prolonged physical and mental abuse. He noted that protocols were developed for the previous group of hostages that came back to Israel, including an in-depth assessment of physical and nutritional status through imaging tests, lab tests, and tests of the heart and other organs, as well as an examination of the wounds some of them suffered during their time in captivity or during the rescue operation.

Male Hostages Rescued Saturday Were Held by Hamas Operative Who Worked with Al-Jazeera: The IDF announced on Sunday evening that after checks carried out by the army and the Shin Bet, it could confirm that Abdallah Aljamal, who held the three male hostages rescued on Saturday in his home in Nuseirat, was a Hamas terror operative. Aljamal served as a spokesman for the Ministry of Labor in Gaza and was a contributor to various news outlets. In an English-language post, the IDF published a photo of Aljamal taken from Al-Jazeera’s website, asking, “what’s this terrorist doing on your website?” Al-Jazeera denied reports that Aljamal worked for it, stating: “Al Jazeera Media Network confirms that Abdullah Al-Jamal has never worked with the Network, but had contributed to an Op-ed in 2019 and that these allegations are completely unfounded.” Abdallah and his father, Dr. Ahmed Aljamal, were both killed in the raid that freed the hostages.

IAF Strikes Nukhba Force Members in Central Gaza, Eliminates Armed Men in Rafah: On Monday, the Israeli Air Force struck Hamas terrorists in the central Gaza Strip, some of them members of the Nukhba forces. At the same time, IAF fighter jets attacked Hamas tunnels in the area of Deir al-Balah, guided by the Southern Command and the 98th Division. In addition, the 7th Armored Brigade and the Yahalom combat engineering unit raided military buildings in central Gaza, destroying tunnel shafts and tunnels. The IDF’s 162 Division is continuing a precise, intelligence-based operation in the Rafah area, where soldiers from the 414th Combat Intelligence Collection Unit spotted two armed men moving toward a nearby tunnel shaft and called in an airstrike, which eliminated the two.

167 Aid Trucks Enter Gaza on Sunday, Field Hospital Opens in Al-Mawasi Humanitarian Zone: COGAT, the Israeli entity coordinating humanitarian aid for Gaza, reported on Sunday that 167 humanitarian aid trucks entered Gaza during the day and that nearly four tons of food aid were airdropped over the strip. Eight tankers of fuel and four of cooking gas entered Gaza. COGAT added that the contents of more than 900 aid trucks, to be distributed by aid agencies, are on the Gaza side of the Kerem Shalom crossing, waiting to be picked up. Also on Sunday, COGAT announced that from June 7 through June 13, there will be “tactical pauses” from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. to enable people in Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, to replenish supplies like food and water. On Saturday, COGAT reported that a field hospital established in the Al-Mawasi humanitarian zone is now operational. Supplies such as first aid equipment, medication, beds, and ventilators were brought to the hospital through the Kerem Shalom crossing after IDF security checks.
