Biography
Emmerson Overell is a project coordinator for the Center on Cyber and Technology Innovation (CCTI) at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD). She manages CCTI’s expansive research portfolio and monitors threats to U.S. national security in space, cyberspace, and the Arctic. Emmerson researches topics related to the securitization of American and allied space infrastructure, NASA programs, hybrid commercial and federal integration of space-based networks, and the U.S. commercial space industry. She also contributes to projects related to influence operations, nation-state cyber threats, and allied Arctic security.
Emmerson competed in D1 NCAA cross country and track on behalf of the University of California, Santa Barbara, where she received B.A. degrees in political science and Middle Eastern studies. She also holds an M.A. in security policy studies with a concentration in U.S. national security from the Elliott School of International Affairs at The George Washington University.
