Amos Hochstein’s cease-fire has failed. Israel’s assassination of Haytham Ali Tabatabai, Hezbollah’s latest chief of staff, in late November conclusively proved it. When the Biden administration’s Lebanon envoy inked the November 2024 agreement between Israel and Lebanon – negotiating on Hezbollah’s behalf – he promised it would “end this conflict once and for all” by requiring Beirut to disarm Hezbollah.
