Hezbollah has dramatically intensified the frequency, lethality, and range of its attacks against Israel in the past month, and especially in the past few days including ones that have sparked large fires.

On Wednesday a drone strike killed an Israeli reservist soldier and left ten wounded in a town near the Lebanese border.

By all indications, both sides are inching closer to a full-scale war.

flurry of international efforts is afoot to avoid what could turn into an extremely dangerous situation (and just as the US is increasing pressure to reach a cease-fire and hostage-prisoner release deal between Israel and Hamas) including proposals based on a gradual but full implementation of UN Security Council Resolution 1701. The resolution calls for the withdrawal of Hezbollah fighters to north of the Litani River, the deployment of Lebanese Forces and the UNIFIL, and the disarmament of all armed groups in Lebanon.
