West Bank Gunmen Fire at Israeli Town of Bat Hefer: On Wednesday morning, after gunmen from the West Bank city of Tulkarem fired toward Israel, IDF troops arrived in the area and carried out searches for the perpetrators. The gunmen filmed themselves shooting at the Israeli community of Bat Hefer, located in the Sharon region. In the past, gunmen from other West Bank towns have fired at Israeli communities — from Nablus at settlements in Samaria and from Jenin at the Gilboa region in northern Israel. According to the military correspondent for Israeli news website Ynet, Hamas pays between 500 and 1,500 shekels (about $135-$406) to anyone who films himself shooting at Israeli communities and runs away and has the video posted.

IDF Troops in Gaza’s Jabalya Find Weapons Near Mosque, Kill Terrorist Armed With RPG: The IDF on Wednesday published a report on fighting by the 7th Armored Brigade in Jabalya in northern Gaza. The brigade’s combat team — which consists of armored, engineering, and infantry battalions from the paratroopers and the Givati Brigade — has been fighting in the heart of Jabalya, raiding terror infrastructures and eliminating terrorists. In one raid, troops descended on dozens of compounds used to launch rockets and destroyed the launchers. Soldiers from the engineering and armored battalions destroyed a number of tunnel shafts, and Givati soldiers raided a complex near a mosque, where they found military equipment, dozens of grenades, dozens of weapons, ammunition, and components for preparing explosive devices. The 7th Armored Brigade cooperates closely with the 636th Combat Intelligence Collection Unit and in one incident, a terrorist armed with an RPG was spotted by soldiers from unit 636 and eliminated. Another terrorist in the area attempted to attack the soldiers and was immediately killed. The report includes photos of the weapons found near a mosque and footage of the airstrike that killed the man armed with an RPG.

Hezbollah Launches Six Attacks in Past 24 Hours, IAF Strikes Hezbollah in Three Locations: On Wednesday, the Alma Research and Education Center published an update on Hezbollah attacks on Israel in the past 24 hours. The report notes that Hezbollah has claimed responsibility for six attacks on Israel in the past 24 hours using anti-tank missiles and high-trajectory fire. On Tuesday, Hezbollah fired toward the Israeli community of Shtula, near the Lebanese border with high-trajectory weapons, while today, the group fired anti-tank missiles near Shtula as well as high-trajectory fire. In addition, the IDF today intercepted a “suspicious aerial target” in the area of Rosh Hanikra, near the Lebanese border. In the past 24 hours, Israeli Air Force fighter jets have attacked Hezbollah targets in Naqoura, Ramyeh, and A-Tiri in Lebanon. The report by Alma also includes a photo of damage to homes in Metulla, located on the Lebanese border.

Golani Brigade Soldiers Carry Out Exercises on Israel’s Northern Border: On Wednesday, the IDF published a report on exercises held by the Golani Brigade to simulate fighting in complex terrain. Golani soldiers have been fighting on the northern border for about the past four months, carrying out ambushes, patrolling the fence, and attacking Hezbollah terrorists. In recent weeks, soldiers from the brigade’s combat team have been participating in exercises intended to improve readiness for fighting in the north. The exercises have included practice in gaining control of targets and have been undertaken on terrain similar to that of Lebanon. The exercises have also tested the soldiers’ ability to deal with Hezbollah’s anti-tank missiles and explosive devices and have given them practice in using precise intelligence to thwart terrorist attacks. In addition, the soldiers have practiced evacuating the wounded in complex conditions.
