Biography
Ryan Brobst serves as deputy director of the Center on Military and Political Power at the Foundation for Defense of Democracies. His research focuses on U.S. defense strategy and policy, including U.S. military posture, the defense industrial base, arms transfers, military exercises, and security cooperation with allies and partners in the Middle East, Europe, and East Asia.
Prior to joining FDD, Ryan served as a graduate research assistant at the Hoover Institution and Stanford University’s Center for International Security and Cooperation. He earned an M.A. in international policy from Stanford University as well as Bachelor of Arts degrees in international relations and Middle East/South Asia studies and minors in European history and East Asian studies from the University of California, Davis.
Ryan has published his analysis in Defense News, Breaking Defense, Defense One, and others. His research has been featured in The New York Times and NBC News, and he has been quoted by The Washington Post and Associated Press.
