Biography

Ryan Brobst is a senior research analyst at FDD’s Center on Military and Political Power. His research focuses on Middle East security, including emerging threats, U.S. military posture, arms sales, and weapons development as well as regional military operations and exercises. He also conducts research and publishes analysis related to the war in Ukraine and efforts to deter aggression against Taiwan.

Prior to joining FDD, Ryan served as a policy analyst at the Hoover Institution and as a graduate research assistant at Stanford University’s Center for International Security and Cooperation. He earned an MA in International Policy from Stanford University as well as BAs in International Relations and Middle East/South Asia studies and minors in European history and East Asian studies from University of California, Davis.

Ryan has published his analysis in Defense News, Breaking Defense, Defense One, and others. His research has been featured in the New York Times and NBC News, and he has been quoted by the Washington Post and Associated Press.
