Major Jared J. Thompson is a visiting military analyst at FDD’s Center on Military and Political Power and an active duty U.S. Air Force acquisitions officer who has served in program manager, engineer, and staff roles.

Jared most recently served as a Lead Program Manager in the B-21 System Program Office where he led the technology development and integration of multiple mission systems for the B-21 and other Air Force weapon systems. He has also served as an engineer for nuclear treaty monitoring systems at the Air Force Technical Applications Center, a test engineer for B-1, B-52, and B-2 development test and evaluation at Edwards Air Force Base, and a detailee to NASA supporting systems engineering and integration for the Artemis program.

Jared earned a M.S. in Electrical Engineering from the Air Force Institute of Technology, a M.E. in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Colorado Boulder, and a B.S. in Astronautical Engineering from the United States Air Force Academy.
