Jason Fields

Jason Fields is a senior editor at FDD, where he is responsible for working with analysts and researchers on FDD publications, including op-eds and policy briefs.

Previously, Jason spent more than 30 years in journalism, working for organizations that include Reuters, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and Associated Press. He has worked on stories such as the impeachments of two presidents, wars in Ukraine, the War on Terror, Iraq, and Afghanistan, as well as coups and controversies all over the world. Most recently, at Newsweek, Jason was an opinion editor focused on U.S. foreign policy and global news, particularly covering the aftermath of the October 7, 2023, attack on Israel by Hamas.

A graduate of St. John’s College in Annapolis, Maryland, Jason Fields studied philosophy and mathematics. He received honorable mention for a paper he wrote as a conclusion to Thucydides’ History of the Peloponnesian War, which had been left unfinished at the author’s death 2,400 years ago.
