Energy and National Security Program

America must not merely be energy independent — it must be energy dominant to ensure the United States can deter, and if necessary, defeat the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) and counter threats posed by Russia, Iran, Venezuela, and others.

FDD’s Energy and National Security Program addresses one of the greatest challenges and opportunities we face in this century — having enough energy to win the AI arms race against China. The program serves as a hub for policy development, industry engagement, and strategic influence on global energy dynamics as they relate to U.S. national security, economic strength, and technological superiority.

Led by Rich Goldberg, FDD’s Energy and National Security Program includes fellows and analysts from FDD’s centers and programs who touch energy in many ways. The program examines a range of topics, to include ensuring the United States has the energy capacity to win the AI arms race; export oil, gas, LNG, coal and nuclear power to allies — binding them closer to Washington and away from Beijing and Moscow; develop a secure, non-People’s Republic of China global supply chain for critical minerals and energy technologies; and safeguard the freedom of navigation for energy and secure our energy infrastructure.
