IAF Strikes Targets in Yemen; Defense Minister Katz to Houthis: ‘No Immunity for Anyone’: On Friday, the IDF conducted airstrikes against Houthi targets in Yemen, including the Hizaz power station and the ports of Hodeida and Ras Isa. The IDF notes that the attacks follow “repeated [Houthi] UAV and surface-to-surface missile attacks against Israel.” Amichai Stein, diplomatic correspondent for i24NEWS, citing an Israeli official, says that the Israeli strikes were coordinated with the U.S.-UK coalition, which carried out simultaneous strikes. Stein adds that during the recent visit to Israel by U.S. CENTCOM’s deputy commander, Vice Admiral Brad Cooper, Israel and the United States discussed coordination on the Houthi problem and now have a division of labor: Israel operates against economic facilities with military and civilian use such as airports, ports, and power stations, while the coalition strikes weapons facilities, command-and-control centers, and underground facilities. After the airstrikes, Defense Minister Yisrael Katz issued a video statement, saying, “Today’s strike by the IDF in Yemen is a clear message to the leader of the Houthi terrorist group, Abd al-Malik al-Houthi, and the leaders of the Houthi terrorist group in Yemen: There will be no immunity for anyone.” He added: We will pursue and hunt you down and destroy the terror infrastructures you have established.”
IDF Troops Find RPGs, Explosive Devices, Hundreds of Mortars in Southern Lebanon Village: The IDF reported on Friday on operations by the 769th (Hiram) Regional Brigade in southern Lebanon, where troops found a multiple rocket launcher, RPGs, explosive devices, and hundreds of mortars in a building in a village. In addition, they found anti-tank launching positions and hidden weapons outside the building. The soldiers also discovered a weapons depot with explosive devices, dozens of shoulder-launched missiles, and a large amount of military equipment. All the weapons found were destroyed. The IDF adds that it “is operating in accordance with the understandings between Israel and Lebanon while maintaining the terms of the ceasefire and will act against any threat to the State of Israel and its citizens.” The report includes footage of the 769th Brigade’s operation in southern Lebanon.
IDF Conducts West Bank Counterterrorism Operations, Eliminating Terrorists, Making Arrests, Seizing Weapons and Terror Funds: The IDF announced on Friday that security forces have been carrying out counterterrorism operations over the past week in several locations in the area covered by the IDF’s Central Command, which includes the West Bank. On January 7, the first day of the operation, an Israeli Air Force drone strike in the Jordan Valley Brigade’s area of responsibility eliminated two terrorists, and security forces, including from the Duvdevan special forces unit, arrested nine wanted individuals and seized ammunition, weapons, and military equipment. During the week, troops operating throughout the Judea and Samaria Division’s area of responsibility eliminated two terrorists in close combat, arrested dozens, and seized hundreds of thousands of shekels in terrorist funds, as well as seven weapons. Security forces are continuing to hunt for the terrorists who carried out the attack near Al-Funduq on January 6, in which three Israelis were killed.
