IDF Drone Strike Kills PIJ Commander in Nur Shams Refugee Camp in West Bank: On Sunday, the IDF, in a joint operation with the Shin Bet, launched a drone strike on an apartment housing Palestinian Islamic Jihad operatives in the Nur Shams refugee camp in Tulkarem, killing PIJ commander Said Jaber. According to the IDF, Jaber directed terrorist plots and was involved in a series of shooting and explosive device attacks against IDF forces and Israeli civilians in the Tulkarem area. Five others were wounded in the attack. PIJ called Jaber as “one of the founders and most prominent leaders” of its local Tulkarem branch; according to Israeli sources, he was the Tulkarem Brigade’s second in command. The IDF says that in the past week, the terrorists in the apartment were involved in carrying out shooting attacks and attempted attacks with explosive devices near the security fence, including near the Israeli town of Bat Hefer. The cell is also connected to the terrorists involved in the June 22 murder of Israeli Amnon Mukhtar in Qalqilya. According to the IDF, the apartment in which the terrorists were staying was used as a hideout and a place for preparing explosive devices.

IDF Continues Raid in Gaza City’s Shejaiya Neighborhood, IAF Airstrikes Eliminate Dozens of Terrorists: The IDF on Monday reported that during operations by the 98th Division in the area of Shejaiya — a Gaza City neighborhood where the army has been carrying out a pinpoint raid since Thursday — soldiers eliminated several terrorists in close combat and found a large quantity of weapons. In addition, the Israeli Air Force carried out dozens of airstrikes, killing dozens of terrorists and destroying several sites used for weapons production and storage. In fighting in Rafah in southern Gaza, the IAF eliminated in a drone strike a terrorist who had launched an anti-tank missile at Nahal Brigade soldiers. In fighting in central Gaza, soldiers from the 99th Division spotted a terrorist launching a projectile at them, and an IAF drone strike eliminated him.

Israel Releases Palestinian Prisoners, Including Shifa Hospital Director; Ben-Gvir: Shin Bet Director Should Be Fired: On Monday, Israeli government ministers and hostage families learned that Israel had released 54 Palestinian prisoners, including Muhammed Abu Salmiya, the director of Shifa Hospital, causing an uproar. Abu Salmiya, who kept Israeli hostages in Shifa and was accused of “conducting extensive terrorist activities” for Hamas in the hospital, was arrested in November. After videos were posted on social media showing him in Gaza following his release, National Security Minister Itamar Ben-Gvir called the prisoner release “recklessness” and demanded that Shin Bet director Ronen Bar be fired. Abu Salmiya, speaking after his release, called for the release of Palestinian prisoners and decried their “tragic” situation, saying they have lost a good deal of weight. In addition, he vowed to rebuild the hospital.

COGAT: More Than 5,000 Aid Trucks Entered Gaza in June, 1,200 Trucks’ Contents Awaiting Collection: On Monday, COGAT, the Israeli entity coordinating humanitarian aid for Gaza, published an update for July 1, stating that yesterday, 311 humanitarian aid trucks entered Gaza, bringing the June total to more than 5,000. Of these, 273 entered through the Kerem Shalom crossing, while 38 went through the Erez crossing. COGAT also noted that UN agencies and “the private sector” collected only 110 trucks and that the contents of 1,200 aid trucks are on the Gazan side of Kerem Shalom, awaiting collection. In addition, COGAT announced today’s “tactical pause,” which took place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. local time in the Al-Ktiba neighborhood in Khan Younis, to enable humanitarian aid to be moved. In a separate announcement, COGAT stated that in the Shejaiya neighborhood of Gaza City, where the IDF has been carrying out a raid since Thursday, soldiers found dozens of grenades, weapons, and “valuable intelligence documents” in a UN school that Hamas used as a warehouse and hideout. Troops also found a medical clinic housing a “terrorist war room” with documents, observation devices, and communication devices.
