Excerpt

Earlier in January, New Delhi’s foreign minister traveled to Tehran with a critical mission: finding a way to shield Indian exporters from attacks by the Iran-backed Houthis in the Red Sea. A day later, Tehran targeted an Islamist Sunni militant group, Jaish-al-Adl, inside Pakistan in a missile-drone attack. Pakistan retaliated by firing missiles into Iran. New Delhi may see the attack as an opportunity to improve ties with Tehran and open a second front against Pakistan. That would be a mistake.
