Major Ziad Fakhoury is a U.S. Marine Corps Infantry Officer and combat veteran currently serving as the Nuclear Security Policy Advisor and Marine Corps Security Forces Advocate at Headquarters U.S. Marine Corps. As an infantry officer, he commanded infantry units and served in a variety of operational billets in support of combat, counterinsurgency, and other contingency operations in Iraq, Afghanistan, and Southeast Asia. His professional experience also includes an assignment with Marine Corps Embassy Security Group, Region 7 (North and West Africa). The duties during this assignment consisted of inspections and oversight of 18 Marine Security Guard Detachments and coordination with Department of State’s Diplomatic Security Service. He is a native of Jordan and is fluent in Modern Standard Arabic and a variety of dialects including Levantine, Egyptian, and Iraqi. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Jordan and a Master’s of Military Studies.
