Thomas Watkins

Thomas Watkins is the US Edition Editor for The National News, a UAE-based publication focusing on the Middle East and foreign policy. He previously was AFP’s Bureau Chief in Afghanistan and Pakistan, where he oversaw coverage of the withdrawal deal between the US and the Taliban. He spent four years reporting from the Pentagon and covered California’s courts for five years with AP. Tom was born and raised in England but has been overseas for 20 years and has reported from more than 30 countries. He holds a Master’s degree in Journalism from the University of London’s Goldsmiths College.
