Russell Hsiao

Biography
Russell Hsiao is a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Project 2049 Institute. Prior to his work at the Institute, Russell was the Editor of China Brief at The Jamestown Foundation. Russell worked several years overseas as an Associate in the International Cooperation Department of the Taiwan Foundation for Democracy; and before that as a Researcher at The Heritage Foundation. He has worked on a range of issues related to Asia-policy including military modernization and strategy, cyber security, unmanned systems, and generational changes in political leadership, among other topics. Russell is also currently a J.D. candidate at the Columbus School of Law at the Catholic University. He received his Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from the American University’s School of International Service and the University Honors Program. He is a member of the Young Leaders’ Program Pacific Forum CSIS. Russell is proficient in Mandarin Chinese and is learning Korean.
