Biography

Mike Daum is a research analyst at FDD’s Center on Military and Political Power. His research focuses on Middle East security, emerging threats, U.S. military posture, arms sales, and weapons development as well as regional military operations and exercises. He also conducts research related to the war in Ukraine and efforts to deter aggression against Taiwan.

Prior to joining FDD, Mike graduated with a B.A. from Hampden-Sydney College in Virginia, where he was a Reagan Institute–Alexander Hamilton Society National Defense Fellow. Mike is a combat veteran who served in the U.S. Army with the 82nd Airborne Division as a motorized reconnaissance and surveillance section leader. He deployed to Afghanistan in 2017.
