Micah Murphy

Colonel Micah Murphy is a U.S. Navy Officer currently serving as a Federal Executive Fellow at the Center for Strategic and International Studies. A surface warfare officer, Micah deployed six times aboard four different ship classes, most recently as the commanding officer of a mine countermeasures ship stationed in Bahrain. Prior to CSIS, he served in a variety of positions in Washington, D.C., including as executive assistant to the Chief of Legislative Affairs, defense fellow for Senator John McCain, and most recently as a special assistant to the Chief of Naval Operations. Micah earned a degree in finance and business economics from the University of Notre Dame and an M.B.A. from Northwestern University’s Kellogg School of Management. Outside of his military duties, he is also a founding board member of the Defense Entrepreneurs Forum, an adjunct fellow at the U.S. Naval Institute, and a term member at the Council on Foreign Relations.
