Major Shane “Axl” Praiswater is an officer in the U.S. Air Force and visiting military analyst at FDD’s Center on Military and Political Power.
He has served as a B-52 flight commander, evaluator, instructor pilot, and weapons officer, flying 27 combat sorties in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. He has recorded more than 2000 B-52 flight hours.
He attended the U.S. Air Force Weapons School and graduated as the Academic Award Winner, moving on to serve as an officer responsible for weapons allocations and tactics for four B-52 squadrons, including as the lead B-52 weapons officer. Previously, Axl led the team in charge of planning all B-52 combat missions in the Middle East. He was the Aide-de-Camp for the Commander of the Air Force Global Strike Command.
Axl holds Master’s degrees from American Military University and Troy University, and is a PhD student at Pepperdine University.
