Katherine Leggiero is a foreign affairs specialist in the Office of Secretary of Defense for Policy. Her past fieldwork focused on transitioning governance among indigenous tribes and preventing violent extremism in the U.S., Turkmenistan, Afghanistan and Jordan. Her professional interest is to combat terrorism through preventative diplomacy. She was awarded the Secretary of Defense’s Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and the National Security Education Program (NSEP) David L. Boren Fellowship. She received her B.A. in Anthropology from Mercyhurst University and her M.S. in Conflict Analysis and Resolution from George Mason University.
