Biography

Commander Jeremy Vaughan is a U.S. Navy Officer and combat aviator currently serving as a Federal Executive Fellow at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy in Washington, D.C. A MH-60R Seahawk pilot, his sea time spans thirteen patrols while forward deployed in Japan and three deployments to the Arabian Gulf , the latest as the Executive and Commanding Officer of the HSM-70 Spartans as part of the George H. W. Bush Strike Group. In other tours, he served as the Flag Aide to the Deputy Commander of U.S. Africa Command and as an Instructor Pilot in the H-60B/R Fleet Replacement Squadron where he was the Region 3 Instructor Pilot of the Year and won the 2005 Helicopter Anti-Submarine Squadron Light Wing, Atlantic Fleet, Navy and Marine Association peer-selected leadership award. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy with a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering and a graduate, with distinction, of the Navy Postgraduate School with an Executive Masters of Business Administration.(This bio is current to when the participant joined FDD’s National Security Network.)
