Biography
Erica Hanichak is the government affairs director at the Financial Accountability and Corporate Transparency (FACT) Coalition, where she leads the group’s engagement with federal policymakers as well as efforts to strengthen U.S. anti-money laundering safeguards. Before joining FACT, Erica spent six years working with U.S.-based nonprofits focused on advancing transparent governance, accountability, and the rule of law in the Middle East. As government relations director at Americans for a Free Syria, Erica worked to pass bipartisan U.S. sanctions legislation to counter human rights abuses, augment counterterror financing programs, and prevent the abuse of U.S. humanitarian aid. In her various roles, Erica’s work has been featured by Fox News, the Associated Press, The Washington Post, PBS Frontline, The Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, The New York Times, and The Hill, among others. Erica holds a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University in international politics, with a focus on international security and Eurasian studies. She was a 2022-2023 Penn-Kemble fellow at the National Endowment for Democracy.
