Emily Newton is a trial attorney at the Federal Programs Branch within the Civil Division of the U.S. Department of Justice where she defends federal government agencies against a range of legal challenges to federal statutes, regulations, and other administrative actions and advises federal agencies in the course of ongoing litigation matters. Before joining the Justice Department, she served as an attorney adviser in the Office of the Legal Adviser at the U.S. Department of State. Upon graduating from the George Washington University Law School, she completed successive clerkships at the International Court of Justice in The Hague and then at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims in Washington, DC. Emily earned her B.A. from Ashland University.
