Benton B. Gammons is currently a Legislative Liaison for the National Guard Bureau with a focus on the Army portfolio. Prior to this assignment he served as the Military Legislative Assistant for Congressman Joaquin Castro. Benton has deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (OEF) to Afghanistan, managing two housing units in the largest theater detention center in the country. He then served in the U.S Embassy, Guyana, where he was directly responsible for executing the security cooperation imperatives of U.S. Southern Command and the Department of State. Benton again deployed in support of Operation Noble Eagle (ONE) to support the integrated air defense system in the National Capital Region. He has been activated domestically to the southern U.S. border in support of Operation Jump Start and has served through numerous hurricane relief operations with the responsibility for managing the tactical military response throughout devastated areas. Benton has served the community with the Department of Veterans Affairs. He was also an adjunct instructor at the University of Maryland. His legislative experience spans the Florida State Senate, the National Guard Bureau, and the U.S. House of Representatives.
