Austin Akers

Austin Akers is the Press Secretary and Media Communications Manager at the International Republican Institute’s (IRI) where, among other responsibilities, he manages IRI’s social media channels, external affairs trainings, and interactions with external audiences. Prior to IRI, Austin worked at the Republican National Committee as a National Press Aide and Opposition Research Analyst during the 2020 election cycle and at The Larrison Group as a Consulting Associate on political fundraising. Austin has an undergraduate degree in Communications Studies from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama. He also holds a Master’s degree in Discourse and Argumentation Studies from the University of Amsterdam in the Netherlands where he concentrated on Political Argumentation Analysis.
