Major Angela Tapia is a Special Assistant assigned to the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Legislative Affairs supporting legislative engagements for the Homeland Defense & Global Security and Intergovernmental Affairs portfolios.  Angela works directly with the Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defenses for Homeland Defense Integration & Defense Support to Civil Authorities, Defense Continuity & Mission Assurance and Countering Weapons of Mass Destruction.  Additionally, she supports the Defense Technology Security Administration. Prior to her current assignment, she served as a defense fellow on Capitol Hill.  She deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom and oversaw the maintenance of F-16 and enabled 1,208 combat sorties.  She holds a Master’s degree in Military Art and Science, Operational Warfare and a Certificate in Legislative Studies from the Government Affairs Institute at Georgetown University.
