Three Terrorist Sons of Hamas Chief Killed
Latest Developments
Israel killed three sons of Hamas chief Ismail Haniyeh, themselves terrorists in the group, in a Gaza airstrike on April 10. Amir, Mohammed, and Hazem Haniyeh were struck in a car in Shati, a district in the northern Gaza Strip, along with family members. Subsequently, Al Jazeera aired footage of their father receiving the news in a Qatari hospital. Amir Haniyeh was a cell commander in the Hamas armed wing, while his brothers were operatives in the same organization, the Shin Bet said in a statement.
According to media reports, Haniyeh had 13 children before Hamas attacked Israel on October 7 launching the Gaza war. Speaking on Al Jazeera, Haniyeh said the loss of his sons would not change Hamas’s position in so-far fruitless mediated talks between the terrorist group and Israel.
Expert Analysis
“Haniyeh raised three sons as terrorists who did his dirty business while he ran this terrorist war from the safety of a luxury Doha suite. Israel will not relent until those responsible for the October 7 attack are brought to justice.” — Mark Dubowitz, FDD CEO
“Haniyeh’s sons held positions within Hamas’s military apparatus and were legitimate targets. Yet the strike may have also been intended to serve as a clear message to Ismail Haniyeh that family members of Hamas leaders actively involved in combat against Israel will not be exempt from potential elimination.” — Joe Truzman, Senior Research Analyst at FDD’s Long War Journal
