Biden’s Iran Policy Fails Day After Day

Regarding your editorial “The Houthis, Iran and U.S. Deterrence” (Dec. 20): I’ve spent 20 years working on Iran issues through four U.S. presidential administrations. My think tank and I have been sanctioned and threatened by Iran, as have four of my colleagues. I am concerned about physical security, but I am also concerned about American policy.
President Biden, so far, deserves credit for standing by Israel against Hamas—though that clock is ticking, and he may foolishly pressure Israel’s military to end its campaign before its objectives are realized. But his Iran policy has been feckless, fatally flawed and dangerous to Americans, Israelis and brave Iranians fighting against Iran’s repressive rulers.
