Gaza Fence Bombing Backfires, Killing Five Palestinians

Five Palestinians were killed on September 13 when a bomb they planned to detonate against Israeli troops at the Gaza Strip border fence went off prematurely. The blast, documented by an Israeli surveillance aircraft, took place during a violent Palestinian demonstration at the fence, to which soldiers responded with riot-dispersal methods. At least two dozen Palestinians were wounded in the confrontation.

In recent weeks, Gaza has seen so-far limited efforts to replicate the large-scale fence riots that Hamas orchestrated in 2018 and 2019 in a bid to upstage then President Trump’s moving of the U.S. Embassy to Jerusalem.
