Timothy Belsan

Timothy Belsan is the Deputy Chief of the National Security and Affirmative Litigation Unit in the U.S. Department of Justice’s Office of Immigration Litigation.  He has been with the Justice Department since 2011, and has also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of Virginia’s Criminal Division.  Tim is a recipient of the Attorney General’s Award for Distinguished Service and the Civil Division’s Training and Professional Development Award.  Before joining the Justice Department, he clerked for the Hon. Deanell Reece Tacha, former chief judge of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit, and served as an adjunct professor of law.  Prior to law school, he worked as a professional copy editor.  Tim holds a J.D. from Washburn University School of Law and a B.A. from Newman University.
