Sergio Sarkany is a trial attorney at the Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Office of Immigration Litigation, where he litigates as part of the National Security and Affirmative Litigation Unit handling a diverse docket of national-security related cases. Before joining the DOJ in late 2015, Sergio spent three years as counsel to a U.S. Senator seated on the Armed Services and Judiciary Committees. Before that he served for about 10 years in the U.S. Navy’s JAG Corps, during which he litigated in both criminal and civil practice areas. He was born and raised in San Francisco, CA, and received his bachelor’s degree from UC Berkeley and J.D. from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
