Captain Sara M. Downing is a visiting military analyst at FDD’s Center on Military and Political Power and an active-duty U.S. Army intelligence officer who has served in both command and staff positions.
Sara most recently served as a company commander, in which capacity she directed the training and tactical integration of eight different intelligence disciplines in support of armored maneuver. She has also served as a brigade staff officer on rotational deployment to South Korea, where she helped design international and combined arms training events.
Sara is currently a candidate for a master’s of public policy from Duke University and earned a B.S. in economics with a minor in statistics from the United States Military Academy at West Point.
