Matthew Aiesi is a Major in the U.S. Army, serving as a Judge Advocate. He is a Professor in the National Security Law Department at the Judge Advocate General’s School where he teaches National Security Law, Geneva Conventions, War Crimes, and International Remedies. He has extensive criminal litigation as both a military prosecutor and defense counsel, including defense counsel in the capital case of U.S. v Staff Sergeant Robert Bales. Major Aiesi served as the Chief of International and Operational Law for the 10th Mountain Division (LI) in Kandahar, Afghanistan. Major Aiesi earned his J.D. from Penn State and his LLM from the Judge Advocate General’s School.
