Biography

Major Katherine Barton is a U.S. Army Officer and combat veteran currently assigned as a congressional liaison on Capitol Hill. Prior to working federal policy for the National Guard Bureau she served as the Government Relations Officer for the Iowa National Guard. In this role she worked state and federal legislative priorities for the organization. As a medical service corps officer she commanded a ground ambulance medical company for over 36 months. Additionally, she served as a legal specialist during a combat deployment to Iraq in 2003-2004. She earned her Master’s degree in Public Administration with an emphasis in public policy from Drake University and her baccalaureate degree in Political Science with an emphasis in international relations and political process from the University of Iowa.
