Joseph Leonardelli is a regional affairs officer with nearly two decades of operational, diplomatic, and expeditionary experience. He has completed multiple deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan, supporting combat operations and coalition partners across interagency environments. As a qualified defense attaché and foreign security forces advisor, he has served in U.S. embassies across Europe, the Middle East, and Asia — including assignments in Kyiv, Zagreb, Copenhagen, Cairo, Tel Aviv, Ankara, Taipei, and Manila — where he worked closely with senior defense officials, advised ambassadors, and supported U.S. engagement with NATO allies and regional partners through security cooperation initiatives. He is a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and holds a master’s degree in international business and policy from Georgetown University.
