Joel Meredith is a Middle East foreign affairs specialist in the Office of the Secretary of Defense for Policy, where he develops and oversees the implementation of U.S. defense policies related to Syria and the U.S. counter-ISIL campaign. Previously, Joel was an Army Infantry platoon leader and company commander, having served in Afghanistan and Germany. He received his M.A. in Security Studies from Georgetown University’s School of Foreign Service, and B.A. in Political Science and Middle East Studies from Dickinson College. He is proficient in Arabic.
