Biography
JJ Jackson is a congressional defense fellow with Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC-02). A 2013 West Point Grad and an air defense officer, JJ has held diverse positions throughout his career. He most recently served as a Department of the Army legislative liaison responsible for the installations, energy, and environment (IE&E), military construction (MILCON), and infrastructure portfolio across the service within the Programs Division, Office of the Chief Legislative Liaison (OCLL). Before this, he served on OCLL’s posture cell responsible for preparing senior Army leaders for congressional testimony to the Armed Service Committees in support of the President’s Budget for FY24. Prior to starting the Army Congressional Fellowship, JJ served in his second command of a Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) battery, Alpha Battery, Fourth Air Defense Artillery Regiment (A-4 ADA THAAD) in the 11th Air Defense Artillery Brigade (Ft. Bliss, TX), deploying his unit to Saudi Arabia (2020) for a time-sensitive contingency operation to establish and initialize a strategic radar site in support of Operation Enduring Freedom (Spartan Shield). During his time in the Army, he has served in various assignments throughout the world that have contributed to his unique perspective on the intersection of national defense policy and legislative policy.
