Rep. August Pfluger

Biography

Rep. August Pfluger is a Lieutenant Colonel in the U.S. Air Force, currently serving as the Senior Defense Fellow at The Washington Institute for Near East Policy. He will join the National Security Council as the Defense Policy and Strategy Director in July 2019. A graduate of the U.S. Air Force Academy, Colonel Pfluger is a command pilot with more than 2,000 hours in the F-22 and F-15, with more than 300 combat hours. His previous assignments include service on the Executive Action Group to the Chief of Staff, US Air Force; commander of the 380th Expeditionary Operations Squadron in the United Arab Emirates; and chief of strategy for NATO’s Air Command Center in Italy. Colonel Pfluger holds an M.S., an M.A., and is completing course work for a M.A. in International Business and Policy at Georgetown University. Colonel Pfluger is married to Camille Cole and has three daughters. (This bio is current to when the participant joined FDD’s National Security Alumni Network.)
