A.J. Twombly



A.J. Twombly is a director in the Global Client Group at American Express, where she leads a team responsible for handling some of the largest and most complex global clients, including Delta, Hertz, Enterprise and Avis. Before joining Amex, she worked as a private wealth adviser at Goldman Sachs. A.J. also served three tours with the U.S. government, including a tour in Afghanistan. Prior to working overseas, she worked as a staff assistant for Senator Joseph Lieberman’s Governmental Affairs Committee. She holds a B.A. degree in English from Trinity College and an MBA degree with dual concentrations in General Management and Sustainability from the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She speaks Spanish, French, and Turkish. A.J. serves as treasurer on the National Hispanic Heritage Foundation Board and as vice-chair of the America SCORES National Board. A.J. is also a term member of the Council on Foreign Relations and a founding member of the International Crisis Group’s Ambassador Council.  (This bio is current to when the participant joined FDD’s National Security Network.)
