Statement from Clifford D. May, FDD Founder and President, and Mark Dubowitz, FDD Chief Executive, on the Passing of Bernard Marcus

Washington, D.C., November 5, 2024 – The Foundation for Defense of Democracies (FDD) extends its deepest condolences to the family of our cherished mentor, dear friend, dedicated board member, and one of the visionary philanthropists who helped shape FDD’s mission from its founding in 2002. His passion, foresight, wisdom, and steadfast dedication to U.S. national security have left an enduring legacy on our organization, inspiring us to uphold his commitment: strengthening U.S. national security and mitigating threats posed by adversaries to the United States and other free nations.

We will honor Bernie’s legacy with the same dedication and spirit he exemplified, ensuring that our work reflects the values, accountability and impact he sought.
