US Puts Brakes on Drones, No Attack in 33 Days

Washington: Pakistan is experiencing the longest respite from punitive drone strikes by the United States. Washington has now gone 33 days without a Predator or Reaper airstrike against terrorist targets in Pakistan, according to statistics compiled by the Long War Journal. The last strike took place on November 16 in the Ramzak area of North Waziristan. …

Pakistani officials suggested on Tuesday that Washington appears to have held off fresh strikes so as to not aggravate already strained ties between the two countries . The Long War Journal too quoted an anonymous American official as saying the pause was because another attack could “push US-Pakistan relations past the point of no return” .
