According to the police, the two men are brothers who were suspected of having previously shot at Israeli forces.

After four gunmen moved toward the troops, they were killed in an airstrike. In another incident in the area, six men with an RPG launcher who were near the soldiers were killed by an airstrike. In central Gaza, IDF troops raided military buildings and during one raid, after terrorists hiding in a building shot at the soldiers, a combat helicopter struck the building, killing the men.
