US, Britain and France launch air strikes against Syria

The US, Britain and France on Friday night launched more than 100 missiles against Syrian targets in a strike against the Assad regime’s chemical weapons capabilities, but stopped short of attacking Russian or Iranian targets in order to avoid triggering a broader conflict.

Behnam Ben Taleblu, at the hawkish Foundation for Defense of Democracies, said the target selection showed that the Trump administration had decided against making a challenge to Iran’s influence in Syria, adding: “Assad’s conventional war machine has not been impeded by the strike.”
