FDD Executive Director to Testify Before Congress Tuesday on Iran Sanctions

WASHINGTON – Mark Dubowitz, executive director of the Foundation for Defense of Democracies, will testify before the Senate Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs Tuesday morning on “Perspectives on the Strategic Necessity of Iran Sanctions.”

Dubowitz will be joined on the panel by Patrick Clawson, director of research at the Washington Institute for Near East Policy.

Dubowitz has testified before Congress and advised the U.S. administration, Congress, and numerous foreign governments on Iran and sanctions issues. He heads FDD’s Center on Sanctions and Illicit Finance and is the co-author of 15 studies on economic sanctions against Iran.  He also is co-chair of the Project on U.S. Middle East Nonproliferation Strategy, a nonpartisan project co-chaired by five nonproliferation and sanctions experts.  Dubowitz is a lecturer and senior research fellow at the Munk School of Global Affairs at the University of Toronto, where he teaches and conducts research on international negotiations, sanctions, and Iran's nuclear program.

He has recently authored an op-ed on the vital role of Congress in halting Iran’s progress towards a nuclear weapon in The National Interest and co-authored a piece in the Wall Street Journal on the dangers of extending nuclear negotiations. He regularly appears on CNN and Fox News.
