How ’bout We Call It ‘Bon Jovi Islam’?

After all, we've tried “radical Islam,” “extremist Islam,” “fundamentalist Islam,” “sharia Islam,” and — for a real natural in the annals of political correctness — “political Islam.”

My column today is a reaction to Sen. Joe Lieberman's Wall Street Journal op-ed of a couple of days ago. He rightly chided the Obama administration for refusing to name the enemy or otherwise acknowledge the connection between Islam and the threat we face. But Sen. Lieberman himself minimizes the threat — which, as I argue in The Grand Jihad, is far more extensive than terrorism — and insists, based on nothing but hope, that there is a thriving peaceful, moderate Islam to which the vast majority of Muslims adheres. So I suggest “Bon Jovi Islam”: we're halfway there and livin’ on a prayer.
