Keeping Score: My Favorite Day in a Long Time

Tomorrow will be 36 years since my dad died (at 38).  Even though I’m now 11 years older than he was when he died, I still miss him every day.  One of the great joys we shared was baseball.  He taught me to love the game, and he taught me how to keep score when I was 8.  My son Edward, a growing baseball nut at age 5 (near 6), is much more precocious.  He’s been pleading with me to teach him how to keep score.  We did it today.  (Oliver Perez & our Mets made it very easy with a tidy 4-hitter against the Yanks.)  What joy!

There’s nothing like fathers and sons and baseball.
